Prairie West is committed to a health and safety management system that protects its staff, its property, other workers, and the public from injury and incident, both on and off the worksite. Prairie West is committed to providing a quality service in a manner that ensures a safe and healthy workplace for our employees.
Employees at every level, including management, are responsible and accountable for the company’s health and safety performance. A comprehensive corporate health and safety manual has been developed that outlines all major components of our safety program including hazard assessment and control, safe work practices, safe job procedures, preventative maintenance, inspections and investigations and reporting. Complete and active participation by everyone, every day, in every job, is necessary for the hazard identification and control to achieve the safety excellence that Prairie West expects.
Our goal is a healthy, injury-free workplace for all employees.
Management supports participation in the program by all employees and provides proper equipment, training, and procedures in accordance with industry standards and in compliance with:
- Occupational Health and Safety Legislation
- Alberta Traffic Safety Act
- Alberta Environment Protection and Enhancement Act
- Employer Standards Codes
- Workers Compensation Act
Further, management supports coordination of safety among all workers on the job site and encourages sharing lessons learned amongst employees whenever possible.
Employees are responsible for following all procedures, working safely, and whenever possible, improving safety measures. Employees are responsible to report unsafe acts or conditions, refuse unsafe work that could result in imminent danger, and where possible implement hazard control.
Our goal is a healthy, injury-free workplace for all employees. Safety is a shared responsibility by all involved and by working together in all parts of this program, we can achieve this goal.
