In 1978 Joe moved west and in 1979 purchased a small landscaping company that he nurtured into the successful growing operation that is the Prairie West Group of today. Over the course of its history, Prairie West Landscapes has maintained over 1,100 sites and has employed up to 35 employees during a single season. The company has averaged a business portfolio of more than $1,000,000 per annum over the last 20 years.
In 1983, Joe founded Botanica Garden Centres which at its peak employed up to 80 individuals with ten different outlets in Calgary and Edmonton. In 2004, Joe created Prairie West's sister company, Prairie Rain, to specialize in the irrigation field allowing Prairie West to self-perform a key aspect to providing healthy lawns.
Joe's vision for the company is found in the footnote of every letterhead:
“We will provide an outstanding level of service that exceeds the expectations of our clients through Quality, Integrity and Professionalism".
Joe continues to remain active in the company. He provides constant mentorship along with evaluating new tools and techniques in the industry to ensure Prairie West remains a competitive, high quality, customer orientated service provider.
